Regional light rail proposals should support — not thwart — starter line
April 22, 2008
The Regional Transit Alliance remains confident that the light-rail planning process underway will produce a reasonable light rail measure for voter consideration this fall.
Those favoring a broader regional start to light rail apparently support a city-county funding partnership with some enhanced transit for neighboring Missouri counties. Such proposals, however, should supplement rather than thwart the possibility of the starter line under discussion.
In the end, the RTA remains committed to improved regional transit, and the goal should be a light rail ballot measure that will pass in November.
