League of Women Voters sponsors light-rail public meeting

September 24, 2008

Be an informed voter. Come to a public meeting sponsored by the League of Women Voters Kansas City/Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties to learn current information about this important ballot item on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., in Room 102 of the UMKC Administrative Building at 51st Street and Oak, Kansas City, Mo. The presentation will provide an update on recent transit issues of interest to EVERYONE in our region — whether you live within Kansas City or not. In addition, you can experience riding the bus firsthand; we’ll be taking the MAX down to River Market then back to UMKC.

This meeting is open to everyone, and will be an excellent voter education experience! You, along with your family and friends, will have the opportunity to learn and experience the latest technology offered by KCATA. We’ll ride the MAX, Kansas City’s first Bus Rapid Transit line. These BRT lines are becoming a popular alternative to “regular” buses throughout the nation — and Kansas City was among the first to implement BRT!

You’ll need to bring your fare of $1.25 for each way.
